Kung Hay Fat Choy!

This weekend we did a few things to celebrate Chinese New Year, which is actually today.

On Saturday, we went to a local market to meet My parents, brother, and my dad’s “little brother” for lunch and a lion dance. Unfortunately, the early lion dance got cancelled, so Chris and I didn’t get to stay to see it, but the rest of the family did, and showed us pictures. It looked very cool! We ate lunch at the restaurant inside the store, and also did some grocery shopping. I love picking out my favorites from the Chinese bakery. 🙂

On Sunday night, CNY Eve, we went over for some family time at my parents’ house. My mom made a feast of lion’s head (huge Chinese meatballs) and cabbage, black pepper mackerel filets, 5 spice chicken wings, stir fried butternut squash, ma po tofu, and brown rice. It was amazing. She also made red bean soup, which was delicious!

We watched at the edge of our seats as the 49ers played the Giants, and were sad with the final score. But, we had a great time!
